The most important perspective and determinant whether a leader is effective or not at any given time, is the team he or she is leading. So, the “truth” of what is the right amount or over- and underdoing lies in the eyes and perception of the team members. This is to make sure that critical obstacles for performance are known and addressed in the performance management processes. You as a leader or anyone outside of the team do not have to agree you are doing something “too much” for it to be a relevant thing to address in order to help the team develop and perform better.
